The Time Capsule

Shortly after high school, Jack's great love Elise (Brianna Hildebrand) left with her father on a space mission. Twenty years later, it's Jack's turn as a popular politician to rise to the top—and crash hard. At his parents' lake house, Jack (Todd Grinnell) tries to recover with his family from a heavy election defeat and the lost seat in the US Senate—when he meets Elise again. However, the returning astronaut has not aged a year due to her stay in space. The encounter with his former lover, which stirs up old feelings in him, plunges the married Jack into a moral dilemma. "Elise’s future is wide open while Jack is firmly married and earmarked for the next big political contest. Their bygone and borderline forbidden attraction is tempered while they explore their true selves and comparatively heal their mutual lost feelings from where they used to be. For a little movie like this one to stoke those controlled fires in an alluring way without overplaying the melodrama is a tremendous accomplishment. The magnetic sweep of The Time Capsule emanates from the yearning energy generated by this lead couple and kept at an arm’s length. The soft-eyed Todd Grinnell wears his feelings on his sleeve in a very fine performance balancing honesty and chivalry. Even greater, Brianna Hildebrand’s hopeful spirit is as fetching as her youthful beauty.
