The Red Tree

Drama/Family, France/Panama 2022

Musician Eliécer is enjoying a simple but peaceful retirement on a remote stretch of coastline in Colombia. However, his tranquility comes to an end when, following the death of their father, his little half-sister shows up at his door. The little girl, whose hopeful name is Esperanza, never knew her mother. And so it is up to Eliécer to accompany Esperanza to the capital—to a mother who once abandoned the child and will now hopefully accept her as her own. The small traveling group is soon joined by the young boatman Toño, who wants to become a boxing champion in the big city. The trio embarks on an adventurous trip through Colombia's beautiful landscapes, full of authentic people with their traditions – and full of heart, but not without inherent conflicts.
